happy birthday, john

There you are, sitting in the lake with your sister, watching the kids swim on a hot Friday afternoon.

As birthdays go, they don't come much better.

I hope this is a great year.

Happy Birthday

Thanks for being ours, Love, MOM and DAD

more graduation

Then back home for a little cake and ice cream before bed.

tim's graduation

You did it, man.

Made it all the way through  this strange, long school year.

Graduated with honors.

Originally masks were required, but at the last minute they dropped that requirement so we didn't go up in the bleachers, sat on the hill in the grass instead, distanced better.  We're all vaccinated, but this felt too crowded all at once and way to hot out.

We've been to some cold graduations in this field on early June evenings in the past, but this was the first insufferably hot graduation.  It was close to 100 degrees, no breeze.

At least there was a bit of shade.
No shade for the graduates though.

When he found us afterward, first thing was water.

Oh my goodness, buddy, look at that grin.

This has been a stressful few weeks: finals, piano recital, started a job, graduation!

You made it.

And we are so proud of you.

Love, Mom and Dad

julia's cloud pictures

She sent me these and I told her to send them to Alicia who also loves wild clouds.

We are in a heat wave here that's kind of intolerable.   Tonight power went out while I was working, had to grab my computer and find a place with internet.   Heidi has an office in her basement, so I went there.  I could have gone to Dan and Alicia's too, or to my parents, but I think I'd have been quite a distraction either of those places, so I camped out in the basement.  What the heck is up with this heat?

Anyway, June you steamy thing.

Still glad you're here.

And Julia? Thanks for sending me pictures of clouds I never would have seen tonight.  I love you.

a few more pictures

This weekend our old friends Holly and Ed and their son were there, plus Kari and Andrew.   I don't have pictures, hate to be that obnoxious person sticking a camera in everyone's face.

Here they are loading up Andrew's moped before they left. That's the connection here the mopeds--Holly and Ed met him through their moped club, and then realized he was dating Kari?? Small world moment.

That's their son on his phone, hanging out.  He used to be a young squirrel living it up with Kari and Tim back in the day.  Now he's all grown up and civilized and all, and still so sweet.

And that's the end.  We all packed up and left, but not before the couple hours sweaty ordeal of putting all the tubes and skis away, and the recycling and garbage, and packing, and washing the last of the dishes. Julia ran the vacuum.  Checked the a/c and the heat, checked the oven, emptied the wastebaskets, locked the shower house, made sure we had our phone chargers, dozens of details that make the dog anxious we'll forget her.

Onward.

Thanks, June.

evening swim

It was getting toward bedtime, but then?

It seemed like a good time to swim again first.

She's got both her grandpas here, teasing the one pretty good.

I don't know who those people are.

 What  a beautiful Saturday night.
