recital

This was a huge, elaborate production, so many dancers and groups.
The choreography was creative and fun, and the kids had obviously been practicing for months.
Of course our dancer is the most beautiful of all.

This is Who Let the Dogs Out, pretty funny.

Aww, what a fantastic production.

So much love, Grandma

the grouse whisperer

Found this beauty on the dining room table, a gift from Dan and Alicia.  I think this is a perfect spot for it.
This is her. She just goes to bed without us.
So this is the grouse, turned up Saturday morning. We sent a picture to Renee for help identifying what it was.

Once the yard was mowed we went to the nursery for flowers to plant in all the flower pots.

Nettles!! They were pulled and disposed of.

This bird followed Jay around all day, ate dandelions, pecked at bugs.  In the evening we went back to the field to mow around the swing set because kids will be up next weekend.  The bird followed us.

And then it followed us back again, skipping along in the brush beside the trail.
This morning, I thought there were voices in the kitchen, and there were!

It was these guys!

Elin was so happy her whole body wiggled and she fell over on the floor to be petted.

And then after their trailer was situated at the edge of the woods, we all packed up and headed home again.

spring play

It was a lightweight and silly production, a comedy almost.

It was good, very enjoyable performance.

Our cowboy in the blue plaid shirt is a natural performer, doesn't get stage fright, can memorize lines like the wind.   It's a gift.
And we have the brother in the chorus.    There were old hits like She'll be Coming Around the Mountain--haven't heard that in years. The Kindergarteners sang that and stopped after three verses.  Home on the Range was another song, old classics you even forget you know all the words.
Anyway, a beautiful job.

Love you guys, Grandma and Grandpa

A little mac and cheese, a little sunshine, and he was tired out.

Sunday night took Joe the rhubarb he left behind at Jay's, and had a few minutes on the patio.  The puppy was wild, and I was winding her up and she BIT me on the chin.  It didn't matter, but then the kids were all, "Grandma!  You're bleeding!" and they brought a Toy Story band aid and slapped it on my face.   Nice of them to bandage me up.

They're so funny.

These are the flowers James and Kenya brought, all purple and white with a ribbon, so pretty.

These Jay brought.

Volleyball tournament!   Was great to see how much they've improved.   Used to do a lot of watching and then moving after the moment had passed. Now they're much more on it.

Saturday afternoon on the patio
The hoverboard made an appearance.

Sunday trip to Little Jay and Katie's where work on the fence continued. This machine was a helluva beast.
It did work really well, but good grief.
