happy birthday, dad

It was great to be able to spend time with you on your birthday, enjoy a few laughs, some snacks.

Pretty nice.

Here's hoping for a great year ahead, hoping all pandemic problems are in the past and life is steadily getting back to normal.

Thanks for all the ways you uphold all of us and make life better.

We're lucky for you and we know it.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Love, Val and Everybody

the last monday in june

We had some kids today, first time in a while.

This one noticed her school picture was missing.  Where was it?  We searched around a bit, but then I thought what probably happened is that it was gathered up when we decorated for Christmas, and then  somehow it didn't make it back out again.  Probably it is in a box with Christmas stuff.

Well, at soccer tonight she brought me another picture, a really BIG one, and it is in the rightful place in the dining room.

This vine was noticed tonight coming right out of the pavement.  It's a squash or watermelon or some such thing.   I commented to Jay about it while he was working on the fence.

He glanced over at it and asked, "Did you plant that?"

What?

Yes, right here in the asphalt I hammered a little seed in because that seemed like a good thing to do.

Good grief.

Good night.

Love you all, MOM and Grandma

catching up

We made it to a couple soccer games. Good thing--soccer is almost over for the summer.

We made it to his game another day, though I took no pictures. He scored the only two goals for his team.
We went to Jay's parents today since his dad's birthday is this week.  It was a lovely day.  This is a pic of our niece tossing toys for their puppy to fetch in the water.

Jay's brother has a new boat and took us for a ride.

And that's the end of a beautiful Saturday.  Love, Val

father's day

This kid was so entertained by Grandpa's bald spot and took a picture of it, lots of laughing.

Then she noticed a bag of peanut M&Ms on the cupboard and asked him about it.  He didn't know whose it was and said it had to be left alone.   They had this conversation a few times.

A couple days later someone mentioned to him that it was for him, for Father's Day.

She perked right up when she heard this.  He teased her, "What about my bald spot?  Do I have a bald spot?"

She shook her head, "Noooo," and gave him a big hug.

Oh my goodness.

The electric company comes along every three years and cuts down all the brush, and this was the year.  Each time, we rake and put down grass seed and increase the yard a little bit.
This time we're working on another section to the power pole.  It was almost 100 degrees out, so we didn't get as much done as we'd hoped, and definitely not as perfectly as we wish, but it is a good start.
Then we went swimming before we headed home.
