grad party and registration

The graduation party happened with no problems. The weather was perfect for it, no rain to speak of, no heat.

The food was good and the people ate.

Wednesday we reported to the university for orientation and registration.  It was exciting and also endless and boring.

A milestone, to be sure

This is where the day started, in Northup Auditorium.  Last time we were here was a day in May, 2003 when John and Dan graduated and walked across this stage.  We'd been to Winona in the morning for Alicia's graduation, and later that evening we were here.  Tim was tired and Heidi took him from me and put on the baby pouch, popped into it,  and walked back and forth until he fell asleep, high up in the auditorium.

It iss as  lush and luxurious there as ever.

At the end of the afternoon we said good bye and they were held there for supper, activities, sleep over, and registration for classes the next morning.

Today at noon I picked up two very tired girls.

Next stop?  Welcome week!!     Love you, MOM

random pictures

Here they were playing bakery.

That missing window in the kitchen door is the source of so much drive up window entertainment.

And they've got Julia styling hair:

This guy has turned into a complete hazard.  He's a cute one, but dangerous.
The curtains are tied in knots so he can't hang from them and pull the rod down onto his head.
And for extra added fun this week, Dan's truck broke down on the side of the freeway and Jay went to get them while they waited for the tow truck, dog and all, stuffed them all in the plumbing van, Dan perched on the cooler.  Apparently Elin was surprised and kind of happy about it. Good for her.

And during preparations for Julia's grad party, the fridge quit working, and it took two days for the repairman to arrive. We have another fridge in the basement, but talk about your sprinting up and down.  What a pain in the neck.

It seems like June can be over any old time now.

a new chapter

So this little doll was rushed to the emergency room with pneumonia a week ago Friday night. They took her from there by ambulance to Children's Hospital.

Heidi was at the lake without Joe and we also were not there. Heidi had to run in the dark to Dan's cabin and yell in their bedroom window to wake them and hand them her other kids.

After all the expertise applied by Children's Hospital, it seems like it is asthma instead.

Okay.

This is new.

And nervewracking.

Inhalers in hand.  Oximeter.   Hoping for a peaceful rest of the summer.

I love you, darling, Grandma
