yay!

So this lizard went to the vet over a month ago and the ultrasound showed her to be distended with eggs.

The vet said they can reabsorb. We hoped he was right, and have been worrying over her every day that she doesn't eat.  She licked a wax worm one day.  Kari bought nutritional supplement and we've fed her that a few times, a few drops. She hated it.

Well she's been looking less distended the last ten days or so, which is interesting, and her color seemed better.

Last night Kari came racing into the family room late in the evening, "She ate a cricket!"

We ran upstairs and she ate two more.

Kari and I cheered and did high fives. Then we hugged and jumped for joy.

Lilli is going to be okay.

tuesday

Apparently it is egg laying time.

Her level of distention had us concerned, me especially.   Her tail is dwindling.  Her appetite is mediocre, and the belly continues to grow.  Googling is not getting questions answered.

The special vet in Lake Elmo was contacted, and I drove her out there.
The vet had white hair, crinkles around his bright blue eyes, and an experienced demeanor.  When the cover came off the bucket he paused, and I heard his sharp little breath, "Oh my."

He handled her gently and spoke to her personally in a friendly voice.  He tilted her onto her back and showed me anatomy through the fine, thin skin of her belly.  She opened her mouth wide in objection, twisted her head to the side.  He apologized to her and turned her right side up again.   An ultrasound was done.  It's just eggs. She's okay.  He even commented on her general fine appearance and energy level.

Okay.

So we wait for the eggs.

Notice the SMALL holes in the lid of the bucket?  One evening a few months ago she escaped the bucket while we had her in the family room. We found her casually sprawled out on the TV remote. Things like that would NOT be happening during driving today, that's for sure.

Good grief.

Lillian, best wishes for your continued good health.  Love, Val

lillian

Lillian, the gecko, was not eating earlier this week, and after a few days we noticed her tail was looking skinnier, and it was time to find out what was wrong sooner rather than later.

So our vet recommended his own reptile vet.  Except they are in Lake Elmo which is on the other side of the cities, and it was rush hour.

We did it.
The vet thinks she has a sore tongue, so we have drops for that, and also she's to take a bath twice a day for hydration and soothing, and we have to feed her gecko food supplement.

First we're supposed to offer her meal worms, which she loves.  But if she doesn't eat them, then we have to give her the supplement.

We;ve been doing it and her tail has not popped off.  She seems actually quite fine.

Fingers crossed.
