sailing away

Sailing away into summer.

What a fine Memorial Day weekend this was.

more swimming

It was a solid weekend of cousin time.  They were great, so much enthusiasm.

Julia and t.c. here. Not sure what's happening.

hazy, hot day

These are a whole bunch of my kids on the diving dock.   The lake isn't all that deep, so there's really no actual diving, other than a toss across the surface of the water.

And this diving dock is something Alicia's parents brought to the lake last summer, which was great, but I was very upset about the way it was used--not by her parents, by MY family.  People would all get on one side, trying to tilt it to cause the others to fall off.

Well, that's certainly harmless--they're just falling into the water.

But what completely freaked me out is that when one side of the diving dock is pressed way down like that, the other side is high in the air, and when that comes down if there were to be any unfortunate person below it?

Jesus.

I was livid.

I'm so aware of head injuries and spinal injuries, and sometimes it's not fun being a nurse and having seen what I've seen and knowing what I know.

But this weekend, they played on the dock appropriately.  As long as those floatation barrels don't come out of the water, it's okay.
Tubing, tubing.  They could do this for days.

Not the men so much--they get tired at some point, crispy from the sun, over it.  But the kids are always game for one more round.
