John and Dannell hosted this party, and it was a  warm, beautiful day to be together.

These two birthday buddies know how to get it done.

And that brings us to the end.

Here's hoping 2024 is a splendid year for both of you, and everyone else too.

the last day

Made our way to the zoo today, nothing else on the agenda.

We'd talked about a boat ride in the bay, which sounded lovely, but cheapness won out.   He said, "I can ride around in a boat all summer."

Okay, then.

There are monkeys in here, but they're hard to spot.

They're feeding carrots to this very tame giraffe.

He's big though.  It is intimidating, especially for a little kid.

These are the guinea pigs, but a bad pic.

On the way back down the hill we found this place a woman from British Columbia had told us about, but we were way too hot and hungry to go inside.

Later our friends texted about meeting for supper, so we made one last trip downtown.

And that's the end of the night.
