the hornet's nest

There's a huge hornet's nest high up in the pine tree over the road.  This explains the hornets that have been pestering the man painting across the road.

Anyway, we looked at it and discussed if there might be anything we could do about it.

I proposed that we shoot one of our rocket kits.  The launch pad is in the closet under the stairs and we have rocket kits and maybe even the little launch devices.

Every man I've suggested that to has said, "No, no, very bad idea.  Probably won't hit it and might enrage them."

(This from people who normally can't get enough of blowing things up and have few concerns about bothering the wildlife.)

Anyway, after the storm there was a big chunk of the nest in the road.

 

I saw Bob, our neighbor, out in the yard and pointed it out to him, told him I'd gotten it with the rocket kit after all.  His jaw dropped, "Noooo. Did you really??"

No.  Probably the storm did it.

Oh yeah, good times.
