this guy

He won't be here on Monday, and he is so sick this week, just miserable, a virus, teeth, threw up on the dog AND his father.

Hoping for better days ahead.

We love you, Buddy.

saturday

And back home again.

poor richard's

We stopped there after the Farmer's Market, just one last time. I'm sure they're closing for the season very soon.

The place did not disappoint.  There were all sorts of random things around, including that crazy art piece.

I mean, seriously.

Why?

This wooly bear was walking across the sidewalk. I saw something and thought it was a mouse, but nope, a caterpillar.

Oh this-- a bird cage, complete with little fake bird--dead looking, and thankfully artificial.

Again, why?

So we have this guy in a cup for a little while.  I won't keep it.  They have to freeze over winter in order to do their cocoon thing in the spring.  It's so crazy that this is how they do their metamorphosis, but it is true.  We'll let him go in a couple days, out in the garden.
Ahhh.  Love, Val

thursday night

These haven't bloomed all summer, but look at them now.

The lake was gorgeous.

happy birthday!

Everyone took turns on these old roller blades, and then Heidi noticed she was trying to take off her shoes. She asked her what was wrong with her shoe?  Then realized she was ditching the crocs so she could have a turn on the roller blades.

Heidi held her up and they went around for a few minutes.

Big ideas.

Time for gifts:

You love Happy Birthday so much.

This was so much fun Heidi lit the candles again so we could do another round.

And then this of course, always a little chaos.

Happy Birthday, Darling!

I hope the year ahead is as absolutely wonderful as you are.

Kindergarten is looking fine, and happy for all the fun ahead.

We love you like crazy, Grandma and Grandpa and Everybody

the ghost is back

We got the ghost back up, a bigger ordeal than expected.  The cords were dead, had to run a new one. An enormous drill was involved.

And there it is.

These lights were thought were dead, but they were actually also a victim of that cord situation, so with that resolved, they're working again.  I'd cut them off the railing and thrown them in a pile for the garbage, but glad they hadn't been picked up yet. They're fine.

Onward.

Tomorrow is Monday.
