the last of the pictures

They did finally attempt to swim.
This spot is normally so heavily infested with bugs, cannot imagine fishing back in here.  He said he caught a nice bass.

And that's the end of a wonderful weekend.

weekend pics

So many dragonflies!

He let me stroll him all around, looking at everything, watching.

These two puppies had a good time chasing each other around and playing.  It seemed to go better inside the house without the leashes and with furniture the little one could dive underneath.

Some bug bit him right in the face.

dancing in the yard

They worked on this dance routine for hours on end, did their own choreography, very nice.

So much work.

first boat ride of the year

Maria brought him for a boat ride.

Not sure how much he remembers from last year, but he had a good time this weekend, could not stop smiling. He loves being around his cousins and being outside, and he's so very tender and sweet.

Anticipating this will be the first boat ride of many this summer.   Love you, Buddy--Grandma and Grandpa

this lamp

John brought this lamp over from his cabin, and I kind of love it. It's so creatively WEIRD.

Yeah.

I mentioned to Joe about the wolf.

He snorted, "THAT is a corgi."

Maybe.

Maybe not.

It's kind of wolf-esque.

He'd also really like this thing OFF the dining room table, and I'm going to work on that.  We can find a better spot, just have to move some junk around.

John left another lamp upstairs here a few years ago, said nothing for weeks while we pondered on the appearance of a lamp, and a lamp, no kidding, with a bear and a fish, etc.

That came from somewhere.

Well.  He said he didn't want it. "We're not lamp people."

What in the world are Not Lamp People??

Heidi heard this and said, "Yeah, we're not lamp people either."

There you go. As a person who loves lamps, and the weirder the better?  I have somehow raised Not Lamp People.

the weekend

The weekend started with a lovely choir concert before we headed to the lake.
This was the usual Memorial Day weekend, people itching for great weather, wanting to swim!  And having to suffice with a normal, nice spring weekend.

Dani had a great weekend. She LOVED the kids and the other dogs. She was so exhausted every day. She'd just fall sound asleep anywhere.
These kids are all getting so big, and so grown up.  They are pretty patient with each other, and work out the details of their games and ideas without TOO much drama.  It's fun to see.   And even in the moments of frustration or anger, they're pretty clear about why, and what they want to be different.

It's kind of amazing to see a horde of scrappy, wild people turn civilized.

This weekend was made possible by patience and kindness.

I love you guys. You're spectacular.

programs

Choir concert for this guy, attended by Grandpa, very nice.  They have a talented director and hard working kids.

Orchestra concert at the high school, beautiful night, felt like summer, very hot in the auditorium, and we're not used to that yet.

Dance recital!

Another orchestra concert--it is challenging with such a small group, but they do well.

And I'm glad we live close enough to be able to attend.  We're lucky.

Love you guys all so much, Grandma and Grandpa
