mother's day

Dan and Alicia hosted brunch.  It was a feast, a beautiful day,

This bedroom is up in the blossoms

Virtual reality--one had them sending faxes.  Like that's current.

 Beautiful day.   Love, MOM

more weekend

This child came up early with us, and she kept pretty busy while I worked.
That's her personal bed, very close to the door of our room.
She's a hard worker.

I told her to make a bad face like she was overworked doing the dishes. That's the best she could come up with.

This is her sister's birthday present, waiting to be opened.

.

Finally her cousins and sisters showed up.

.
Disgusting dead fish, dog rolled on one while we howled at her.  Yuck.

Cabin has new siding after the hailstorm last year, looks kind of bare without the shutters, but that's a future problem for another weekend.
Not a bad first weekend at all.

Thank you all for your patience, send of humor and kindness.   Love, MOM aka Grandma

from the past

Heidi sent a pile of old photos and this one kind of got me by the heart.  At first I thought that was Maria on the swing beside Jay, but when we zoomed in, of course it was JAMES.

He laughed, "What am I doing?"

I dunno. Sucking your thumb, kicking around, being yourself.

And Kari--she's telling something to Jay, and he's listening so intently.  I wonder what she was saying?

So much love, MOM

swamp

That's Elin, peacefully sleeping dog.

This is the swamp next to the cabin.

Last Friday night we hopped in bed and Jay fell right to sleep.  I was reading on my phone, quietly in the dark and Elin JUMPED up onto our bed right between us and stood there.

Jay has gout and I did not want her to stomp on his poor foot while he was asleep.  He was softly snoring away, and she was standing there trembling so violently that the whole bed was shaking.

I had the thought: Who can sleep with these people?

Finally I turned on the lamp to see what was going on with the dog.  She looked at the window, nervously licking her lips and glancing over at me.

That's when I realized the swamp was a racket and chorus of every possible noise. The peepers were peeping, the bullfrogs were making their weird noises. Other creatures were chiming in with high and low notes.

She was scared of the swamp.

I shut the window, and in a couple minutes she jumped down and got on her blanket and went to sleep.

This girl is such a chicken.

 Love, Val
