foggy saturday
It was very dark and hard to see.
But not inside. These guys were doing their usual chair rides.
Working the other chair:
Here's John, trusty dog in hand.
Jay cut a new trail into the woods. They were enthusiastic.
This beautiful urchin was hanging from my pants leg.
And this one was with his mama.
The masking tape is a road Alicia put down for them.

october friday
We drove to see my grandma, who is doing well. It was a fun visit, though I forgot to take a single picture.
Back at the lake later, here's Jimmy done digging in the fridge.
And Little Jay, attacking the apple bread.
She's putting together the new coffee pot. The one that came with the house crapped out this weekend, oddly enough after I took the pot and filter holder home to run through our dishwasher in the city to brighten them up.
Back at the lake, the thing never worked no more. Weird.
Wild rides in the cooler:
Okay, here the child has just taken a sip of her mom's Captain and coke. She does not look pleased.
Here's her wiping her tongue with her own dirty sock, which made us laugh our fool heads off.
She's fine.
And Heidi and Julia hugging.
Play doh time:
Friday was as excellent as any Friday ever could be, and that's the truth. love, Val

mirror lake
We made our way to the lake Thursday. The water was so still it felt almost spooky.
Standing on the dock, I could almost feel it pulling me over.
Inside the house there was this:
See that pan of dip in the middle of the table? This is the recipe:
8 oz cream cheese spun in the mixer with 8 oz. or sour cream. Add a packet of taco seasoning and as much salsa as you like for spreadable consistency.
Spread it over a cooky sheet and top with shredded cheese and finely chopped lettuce, and tomato if you want.
Black olives are good too, but kids seem to hate them. Serve with tortilla chips.
She's holding up a fresh apple grown on my parents' apple tree, bumper crop this year.
And then before dark, the sand box.
And a fine Thursday it was. love, Val
