The usual props were brought down from upstairs. Every year I wonder the same thing: How do the Easter props show up at the Nativity every year?
Also, see that basket? That's the Baby Jesus in there. It's a large puppet of a dude with a beard.
Man, that's one homely baby.
This one is nothing but gorgeous though. He's wearing Dan's old squirrel sweater that Jay's dad's brother's wife knit for him when he was born--Aunt Myrtle. I love seeing old baby clothes appear on new people. It can seriously make my whole day.
This little fuzzy sweetheart is scooting around on the floor now, and yesterday he put his own foot in his mouth while I yelled to Dannell, "He's sucking on his toes!" Why do babies do that?
Here are the angels of the angel choir.
Mary and Joseph, the innkeeper in stripes, a couple shepherds and m.c. supervising the shepherds.
There's Julia in the back.
These are the shepherds, Tim, t.c., and l.c., and other kid whose name I can't remember. Tim and Julia had lines and memorized them for weeks. They did well.
Little Jay looks terrible in this picture and I could have cropped him out etc, but meh, why?
My dad and his great-grandson are what caught my eye.
Oh, and look at t.c.--no teeth! And My Sweetie? Don't be fooled by that little innocent face. He's a force.
Cute people.
Then we came back home for dinner. Jay cooked roast beef for sandwiches and made potato salad and 7 layer salad, and my mom brought beans and Special K bars, and it was a feast.
He loves cookies.
Okay, this member of the angel choir stayed up until 2:30 am, partying with the gang at a friend sleepover last night. Jay was home from college, and the night went on and on, and this is the result.
Oh, and this little girl is just so darn good. She came tonight too, happy to be here.
And now it's Sunday evening, quiet and dark. The days are very short now, but the dark feels good--quiet and warm and safe. love, Val
