gone off to college

Today was the day!  Maria and Dad moved her into her dorm room and we're all delighted.

A long time ago, Kari, when you were a squirrelly little elf at four years old, you asked me if I'd move you in to college.

I mentally did a little math and said yes.  Fourteen years from now, I will happily move you into your dorm at college.

Well, it didn't turn out quite like that. I had to stay here, but Dad and Maria moved you in, and life is nothing but good.
