pumpkin time

Last year we had to carve our own pumpkin.  This year the pandemic has everyone back at home.

We had a good time.   Love you all, MOM

last sunday eve

We had supper for Kirsten's birthday, not the usual wild party, just us, very quiet.  We had chicken divan and cake and gifts and candles, very sweet.

I cooked up at the lake and brought the food home to put in the oven. This guy kept me company while I worked, played piano
After supper we watched Pride and Prejudice, a movie I had never seen before.  It was entertaining and with Kirsten there to smooth the confusing parts, it was very good.  DAD turned up in the last half hour with lots of comments, but Kirsten laughed, didn't seem annoyed.

Kirby, Happy birthday again, and I hope this next year is amazing.   Love forever, Mom and Dad and Everybody

katie!

Happy Birthday!
It has been such a pleasure these last years getting to know you and watch your life and Jay's unfold.  We appreciate your patience and sense of humor.  I hope today was a wonderful day.

Happy Birthday!

happy birthday, kirsten

Today's your birthday, so I went looking for pictures, and there were so many good pictures.

Here we are, you and me back in the hair twirling days.
Your best girl:
Halloween

You and dad

Florida!
Thailand!

I hope today is a wonderful day, the bonfire at Heidi's with all the rowdy nieces.

We love you incredibly

Happy Birthday!  See you tomorrow.

winter in october

This was quite unwelcome, honestly.  Nobody was impressed, but that's nature.

It's supposed to warm up next week, so we will clean up the patio and flower pots then.  Usually we do all this before Thanksgiving, not before Halloween, but whatever.
Onward.

Love, Val

the last of the pictures

The docks were hauled out.

They're playing some kind of funny video game. They pick flowers and stuff.
That sad face over on the right is because it is the end of the weekend and after lunch, it's time to go home.  She so did not want this weekend to ever end.

I told them they looked like old men on the porch. Where were their pipes?  They laughed.
Something weird on this tree, no idea what the meaning of it is, or if it matters.
And these two:

a soccer game

This soccer game was held in John and Dannell's field, the field behind ours.

It was pretty, even if it was cold.  The island looks intriguing in the fog.
Here we go, snow.  What in the heck?   Snow before Thanksgiving is so unpopular.  Supposed to be six inches of it tomorrow. Blech.
But this:
She knows how to live.

Here's her mom on a ride too.

And that is what was left of the brush pile and those huge old stumps from fallen trees, just a little pile of ashes.
