closing the cabin

It was a beautiful weekend, spent with Dan and Alicia and the kids.   They were funny and wild and we played games and raked up a big leaf pile to play in.  The guys worked on projects, splitting wood and fixing the floor in the corner of Dan's cabin.

I bought a copy of The Borrowers, that old movie, and had been wanting to watch it with them all summer, and Saturday night we were able to.   I haven't seen it in years, and was afraid maybe it was one of those movies that doesn't age well over time.

Nope, it was still a blast.   They watched every minute of it, fastened to the story and the suspense.

Sunday we went for a long walk before they left and ate one last meal together.

And this is the only picture I have because the camera could not be found when we were leaving.  It is probably in the cabin somewhere, though not in the usual spots I set it down.   We were in a hurry to leave, and didn't look under the furniture and so forth, so hopefully it'll be found next year, and all my pictures of this fun weekend will not be lost forever.

Thanks for spending the weekend with us.

So much love, Mom and Dad
