My chicken girls!   I was missing them and showed up at their house on a whim last week.  It's not nice to drop in without calling, but they were 100% gracious and even seemed happy to see me.

These chickens have been fun. That silky she's holding has feathers full of watermelon juice, all spiky, The chickens loved it and chickens don't care.

They chased them all over the easement where the chickens love to peck, and they're not afraid of the girls, just move enough to evade and prolong their freedom. When I was a kid my grandma used to tell us not to pester the chickens or they'd stop laying eggs.   Apparently these ones are unaffected.

Work has been slow this summer, for sure due to the interest rate hikes, so other things have been getting done.

The garage is getting painted, and that's  a good thing.  It's been thirteen years, so probably time.

And today it is raining again, third day of rain.  It's been so dry that it feels nourishing, like a gift.

Onward,

Love, Val
