butterflies

This goofy statue is on the walk up the hill to the butterfly sanctuary.
The woman who gave the tour is from Mexico City, a grad student from working on conservation.
The waterfall in the background was lovely and the butterflies all congregated in this corner, enjoying the sun.

She gave a presentation on the life cycle of butterflies and showed us how to find eggs, the size of grains of sand.  (What patience.)
This one was drying off, getting ready to fly.

At the end of the tour the three of us stood together for long minutes listening to the gushing waterfall and watching them flutter from the orange slices to the leaves.  She said, "I am so proud of this place."

Indeed.

Love, Val
