checking the legs

She was so excited to leave the house and go in the car--looking out the windows, sniffing the breeze.
And then she realized where we were and she was not getting out of this car.

Nope.

She flattened herself to the seat and even tried a little growl at us.  So we went around to the other door and Jay took the handles on her harness and lifted her out facing backward.

Nice try, Elin.

And she didn't want to get on the scale.  He picked her up by the handles, 123 pounds.

She was happy to see the vet, but didn't really want any x-rays, tried to limp noodle her way out of it.  The vet said once she was on the x-ray table, she just let them do the x-rays.   I'm sure she was thinking, "These crazy people."

But she said her legs look fine, healing looks good.  Keep on doing the same routine until the surgeon looks at the x-rays and lets us know what level of activity increase and when.

So glad.  Fingers crossed she goes on to have a healthy life.

anniversary

There you go--the only picture I've taken all week.   It was our anniversary and we picked up dinner for all of us at a local restaurant.

But there are no Valentine's pictures.   It's pretty quiet around here a year into this pandemic.

Dinner was nice, kids were surprised and happy.

Onward.

happy twelve!

So beautiful--got to spend your day with your family, playing basketball, playing video games online with your cousins all morning.  What a great day.

Went looking for a few old pictures of you, pretty, pretty baby.

And now a handsome guy, wow.
How much fun we've had these last twelve years.

You are awesome and we love you like crazy.

Thanks for being ours.

Happy birthday, Buddy,

up at the lake, 15 below

He went up there for a Lake meeting and stayed at the cabin overnight. The cabin is winterized, but he could turn the heat on.  Except we have some kind of off-peak system so the heat kept spontaneously cutting out.
It was a long, cold night, sleeping in all his snow gear and boots in a cabin that never really made it above freezing.

But look how pretty it is, and by next weekend it'll be back to almost 30 degrees again.

more distance learning

Heidi had meetings so sent her upstairs to do her school.  We found her a spot. She helped type in her password and knew where to click to get on the zoom.   It was fine. She came to the stairs and asked for help a couple times, how to find the right page and where was her white board marker.

Later in another class, I went to check and she was inside that slinky blue blanket bouncing all over.  I could see her square on the meeting, just a blue blob bouncing all around.  (Oh my goodness) But when I checked in a few minutes, she was back to participating.

Her sister overheard her tell a fart joke during social time.  The teacher said, "Aww, that's not appropriate."

She hooted, "I don't care!"

(Hehehe)

And I spotted this on the book case, thought it was a book.
Not a story book.

Make up.
For what purpose? The colors are all Baby Yoda colors too.

Weird things can pop up anywhere, apparently.

Onward.

We're to the middle of February.

The tiniest party ever, but that's okay.

fun

So Julia has a new guinea pig, Aspyn Mae Chun-Li Styles. This pig is to bring some happiness to the life of Rowan, her very bored, lonely guinea pig, who joined us last summer.

The cage chewing, the acting up?  We don't need this little girl cracking up from lack of companionship.  Julia tries, but she's not a guinea pig.

So getting them together, even two girls, has been interesting.  Lots of sniffing and chasing and charging at each other, and are they playing or are they angry?   After a few supervised hours together today, they both fell asleep. We took that as a good sign.  Stuffed with lettuce and carrots, they needed a nap.
Oh yeah, distance learning is quite the thing.
Love you, Jule
