aaron's graduation

St. Olaf had graduation for the 2020 class this weekend.  It was outdoors and the weather was perfection.   It was lovely to be there.

I haven't been in church for like a year and a half now, and it was so lovely to be there in the breezy shade listening to prayers offered by clergy, to listen to a choir sing.   I never have been away from church long enough before to miss it, in fact I often resent it--taking too much time, same old, same old.

Not today.

Aaron's parents were there and as we wrapped our arms around each other, realized it has been sooo long since we were together.  I talk with Ann online every week at least, so it doesn't feel like we've been apart that long, but in that moment, hearing his dad's voice, in his mother's arms, so glad to be all together.
