another year has gone by

It's been eight years since you showed up around here, Heidi's boyfriend from college.

And now?  Stuck with us.



You are as devoted to your family as a person could be, and you put up with all of us too, year in and year out.  Even when the kids all go nuts, you take it in stride.

Honestly, that is one of the things I admire most about you--your way of not escalating conflicts, that no-drama way of letting the dust settle, listening, watching, and not sticking your foot in your mouth.  (Although untimely laughter probably does actually count as unwise commentary.)

We're glad for you and consider ourselves lucky you're ours.

 This family is a better place because you're in it.
