a picture from Barbieland

Our house has two basements.  One is the old cellar basement under the main part of the house.   It's small--there are two good sized crawl spaces under the house too.   That's where the office is.

The other basement is the big room under the family room.  It's not cellar-y at all.   The floor is heated and the ceilings are high.  It has huge windows, so it's just a great room for kids to hang out with all their crap.

The sea of Legos is down there, and also Barbieland.

(We used to have an upstairs bedroom for toys--this was the original Barbieland we used to laugh about:  five hundred naked Barbies, all with ratted out hair.)

Anyway, last Thursday I ventured down there late in the evening to turn off the lights, and this couch made me stop and laugh.   Here's our aunt's fancy white damask sofa, with the chenille bedspread ever sliding off, and that funny row of dolls.

Awww.  I will miss this in a few years when all my girls are finally too old for Barbies.

love you kids, Mom
