a 12th birthday

She turns twelve on Tuesday, so today we had dinner and cake to celebrate her and the New Year.

Okay, somehow we have to clear a spot on this table for the birthday cake.

Oh, and this man wants to scoop ice cream!  Why not?  I can do it!

Then when we were ready to cut the cake, m.c. said, "I'm going to pass out."  I thought she meant she was about to faint. 

"No, Val! Pass out the CAKE!"

m.c., you beautiful girl, this whole family is better with you in it. We love you so, Val and Jay and all the kids.
