september weekend, 2013

We drove out to my parents for the weekend.

They live in town, but also have this little place in Wisconsin, the home place.

So we went there and goofed around, and ate good food, and it was lovely and relaxing.

The dress up clothes are always a favorite.

And here they shot at old record albums and tin cans with the bb guns.

Here's a fast ride in the hammock:

There was a lot of time spent doing art:

That girl is a friend of James'.

p.j. painted her little heart out. She loved painting cut outs and even paper.

 More dress up:

Pogo stick meets pink satin heels from a wedding?  Hmm.

She told me she was feeding the baby "no-gurt."  The baby definitely seemed to like it.

We walked to the creek.

You can see what happened.  He said he stepped too close to the edge and it was soft and he toppled right in.   It was a pretty big splash.

On the way home he told me, "Surprisingly, my elbows did not get wet."

God save the elbows.

Today when I was putting bills in the mailbox at the post office he told me, "Too bad you can't throw them in there like Ninja Stars."

???

There he goes:

Here are some of the paintings, very nice:

There's my dad, mom's little hand pointing at something.   They're making a calendar of his paintings.  It should be great.  I saw the selections today and they're wonderful.

 Can't get enough dress up.

And at last the garden, which did not amount to much this year, compared to some other years.

And yet we're home with buckets of tomatoes and zucchini.

Thank you two for a wonderful weekend.  We had such a good time and love you so much.

love, Val and Jay and everybody.
