 She was dared to do this.  I guess twenty dollars was involved, which kind of makes me laugh. 

She has little need for money.  She's thirteen.  We pay her bills.

But John held her up by the life jacket, and the others hung around and gave suggestions while they waited for the boat to idle out.

 And then  she did it!
