happy birthday, joe

Tonight was the anniversary so I took over so they could go out for dinner.  Heidi explained everything carefully, and had a crock pot meal prepared, smooth sailing. She locked all the strategic doors to keep everyone under control.

Until a kid unlocked the doors and unleashed it all.  I was flustered and upset at first, but it was fine. Nothing bad happened.   The baby threw her Little Tykes car down the stairs, but she wasn't in it, so no harm done.

At one point the little one was waving around a manure scraper. Okay, that's sharp and we have no manure here, so give me that. As I turned around she had a piece of wood, a trim piece, with big nails sticking out of it, waving that around.  Okay, no. Just no. I took that away too. Good god.

They scootered all over and threw balls around. It was fine.

Until the dog couldn't stand up. I was watching and about to run over and help her and she got on her feet. Then she leaned on the doorway of the garage and went around the corner, still leaning heavily on the house.   In a minute or two she was recovered.

Ei yi yi.  I sent her inside to drink some water.

And then? The parents were home before bedtime was even underway.

Happy Birthday, Joe!  You certainly deserve it.  Thank you for your patience and kindness, for your help with all sorts of difficult jobs, for the food you cook, and the person you are.

Happy Anniversary you two, after a 10 mile run, Heidi, and a long Monday, I don't blame you guys at all for returning home early.

Love forever, MOM
