another fine friday

Yesterday was actually a finer than usual Thursday.

Heidi called Wednesday and asked if I wanted to help her put away baby stuff.

Absolutely! Yes, yes yes! That baby is due any day. Heidi's hoping for next weekend.

We had fun. Tim and Julia helped me carry all the baby stuff from the room at our house where they'd been living since Thanksgiving, and they helped carry it all in at Heidi's house, pretty cute.

Here's b.g. and Julia and the dog all helping her put together the fancy diaper pail.


The room is so cute, all orange, green, yellow, shiny floor, pretty dresser Joe's dad made for the new baby, all just right.

As I sat there, handing her stuff, talking a little bit, but not very much, I noticed the sprinkle of freckles across her nose these days, the way her bangs were braided off her face, the very Heidi curve of her lips, and cannot wait to meet this baby.

Later Heidi came with us to my parents and here's b.g. on my mother's lap eating a little ice cream.



Last night was Maria's band concert, the pops concert. It's not formal like the winter or spring concerts are. The kids dress in weird costumes and they play popular music--last night was tunes from movies, very fun, Star Wars and Lion King, Titanic, and Wizard of Oz--even Scooby Doo. Lydia came along and I thought she might be bored, but she wasn't at all.

This morning, this dark, overcast morning, it was hard to get up, but someone wanted to see a house, so that's a reason to get going.

Next on the list is buying t.c. a birthday present.

He's turning FIVE tomorrow and a most magnificent birthday party is planned. John's office has a bouncer, and a basketball hoop, hockey sticks, and hockey nets, and a herd of sweaty kids will be there sweating. Oh my goodness it's so exciting!!!! (Just ask Julia.)
