pics from the weekend

We went up north to visit Jay's parents.  It was a nice day. We missed most of the snow, and enjoyed the wonderful cooking of my mother in law and her son--that dude I married.

They played cards--500.

This guy was there.

This is what we came home to.  Click to enlarge if you want-it's the first snow of the season.

They tried to play in it today, and this is the beautiful thing about them: They're old enough to go scour the old basement and find coats, mittens, hats, snowpants, and boots that fit.

It might take them an hour, but whatever.  Then they go outside and stay out for ten minutes.  That's what I hate about kids in snow.

I'm all sweaty and harassed getting them finally ready, and they stay outside less time than I spent preparing them.

But today, no.

Tim liked this picture of his red ears.

While they were outside living it up, Jay and I were inside the house, painting ceilings.

Oh my goodness, our day was so exciting.

This is the kitchen:

The stove from 1945 has standing pilot lights and we cook a lot and this gas stove creates some kind of greasy, old nasty dust on the dishes up high, and the shelves.

A few times a year the shelves and dishes must be washed, the curtains (goobery disgusting dust balls on those) and today was the day.

We had plenty of paint, so we moved on to the living room.

And the dining room.
Here's the kitchen, all torn apart.  It's beautiful now, hours later.

Anyway, it's the end of Sunday night and the end of a very lovely weekend. In preparation for Thanksgiving, the turtle tank is clean, and the Sam has been bathed.

The kitchen has been dealt with and the ceilings painted.

Will it matter?

No.

We seem to need deadlines though, to get us moving.

Onward. In 45 minutes it'll be MONDAY. love always, Val
