a trip up north

We made a trip to see Jay's parents, and had a fun time.

Here they are entertaining the little girl in the living room.

This is the beautiful table set for dinner.

After that we went for a long walk.   My mother in law is a good guide, knows all the places and trails, so no worries for us about getting lost.

Little Jay and the kids have apparently been watching an Animal Planet program called Hunting for Big Foot.  I'd never heard of it, but this walk turned into a hunt for Sasquatch.

They all knew all the lines and pure strangeness of the show.  The foolishness went on and on.  They found bones, they pounded on trees.

Here they plunged down the hill and announced there were "signs of activity."

This is my mother in law.   She is a very good-natured, patient person.   She put up with all this nonsense on her walk and didn't complain at all.

 So pretty, gloomy November sky.

This is the gang on the ride home.   Pop songs were being recast with Sasquatch lyrics in the back.   Eventually the sisters started to bitch about this--Big Foot overload.  That just made James and Jay more foolish and annoying.

When the climbed back in the van after a bathroom stop, the girls said, "NO MORE OF IT."

I heard Little Jay tell James, "Shun the non-believers."

Lydia:  "Shunning us?!  We're not Amish.  Just SHUT UP."

That loving little family of mine, eh?

Anyway, we made it home, and it was a nice Saturday night.    Mom and Dad, thanks for the wonderful meal and easy-going day.    We love you.    love, Val and Jay and everybody
