friday night at the lake
At some point in the afternoon, p.j. asked me for the chocolate bunny high up in the cupboard. My parents gave them for Easter, and this one was still uneaten.
I handed it to her and said to bring it back when she was done.
She did, and what remained after she and her aunties got done chewing on it went back up in the cupboard.
There were problems in this cabin of ours. Jay commented on the smell and wondered if there might be a dead mouse.
Nah, doesn't smell THAT bad. A dead mouse is overpowering. This just smelled like an old cabin.
Well, as we made our list for the grocery store, he ventured into the little cellar on the side to--where the water heater and water softener are, to see if we needed softener salt, and he found a foot of old, brackish water.
He had a pump and a hose and started on pumping this mess.
In the end, it turns out the rain has brought the water so high that a sump system was necessary. He had to place a five gallon bucket as a sump basket and run a pipe.
Chipmunk!
Back to the plumber, and at times like this I am so thankful for his expertise:
Later on, more cousins arrived:
And all in all, mess in the basement aside, what a great Friday. love, Val
