a sauna day

a cooling photo

It's very hot here, just absolutely sultry.

Now the storms have started so I have Sidney alternating between hiding under my chair, and hiding under the bed skirt, plus Sam nervously pacing and panting.

Oy.

Tim and Julia don't want to go to bed while it's thundering out, and that's fine. We can wait a bit. Maybe I'll make some ice cream cones in a minute.

We went to the little pool today, met b.g.'s other grandma. She's one of those people who is never too busy for us. They live across the street from the little pool, and she had the afternoon off today. When we showed up, she slapped the lid on her paint can, shoved the brush in a plastic bag and ran to put her bathing suit on and join us. I love that about her.

It was so bright at that pool, it hurt our eyes, but the water felt good.

Tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter and just as tropical. Everyone's skin and hair are smooth and silky, no lotion necessary--the humidity agrees with our skin. I wish we could bottle a bit of this for next January, the sunshine and balmy days. Wouldn't that be awesome? Sleep tight. love, Val
